The Gathering barn – a sparkling winter wedding venue (and spring, summer & autumn…!)
I love a cold and frosty morning. Picture this, the sun is breaking through the trees, you step outside and the feel the chill in the air, the crunch of frost under your boot and the dew glistening on branches. This is my experience of The Gathering Barn, on New Years eve, ready for a truly beautiful winter wedding.
Take a moment to check out our highlight reel of the venue!
We love everywhere we shoot, so we love to highlight each venue and let you know five of our favourite things!
Where is it?
Located in the area of Monkton Deverill, near Warminster. You will drive though pretty winding countryside and take a lesser known track to the venue, think of it as a secret location!
The Gathering Barn
A beautiful barn
The Gathering Barn has two barns, we used this one for the meal and reception party, and the long barn (below) for the ceremony. Each area is beautifully lit with warm floor lighting. As a videographer, I love it – each lighting area was individually controllable, meaning I could turn areas on and off to work them for the camera. Plus, no LED flicker on the camera!
One of the many setups for the Long Barn.
Oooo look at that glow! The low hills and valleys around Monkton Deverill mean you won’t have anything in the way of your sunrises and sunsets. There are gorgeous trees around to disperse the light and give you some wonderful shapes. Take a wonder through the little forest or around the fields, you’ll get some amazing shots.
That Bridal Suite!
A huge king size bed, full length mirror, massive bathroom with his and hers sinks and a copper freestanding bath. It’s like being at a spa! There so much room here to get ready with your party, for makeup and hair, or move into one of the main rooms for a lot of extra space. You can open up the doors to get right outside, without heading through the main house.
Space for fireworks
Because of the large grounds, there is enough space to launch your own private fireworks display, and trust me, you’ll love it. Sit out on the grass with a picnic blanket in the summer, or on the seats outside with blankets in the winter. Those who want to take a bit of cover can watch from inside by the fire through the large glass doors.
Check out a little video we shot from one of our recent weddings there, with a focus on the fireworks. These were provided by Sky Rascal Fireworks, a super friendly team that have put on the best fireworks I have seen to date!
A cosy fireplace to warm up!
After all that winter chill, there is nothing more romantic that snuggling up on a sofa you can sink into, in front of a log fire. Lights dimmed, candles glowing. The bar is in reach. This is bliss.
Oh, wait- live streaming?
One final nerdy thing… this venue has FANTASTIC wifi and cell reception for livestreaming. This is one of our services we offer and always test our venues. We’re pleased to say that everything runs super quick, perfect to stream your wedding to those who can’t make it.
If you’d like us to live stream your wedding, ceremony or toasts and speeches, get in touch. We can even set up screens to have guests who cannot be there in person and attend a video call. They can also record a message to playback to everyone. We’d love to help you, so pop us a message below 🙂
Want to shoot your wedding film with us?
We will make you a wedding film you will actually want to watch over and over again in years to come.
